Keysight Technologies Partners With Orolia to Advance 5G Location-Based Services

Partnering with Orolia allows Keysight to advance its 5G location-based services with GNSS.

FREMONT, CA: Orolia has partnered with Keysight Technologies, Inc. with the aim of advancing 5G location-based services (LBS) based on global navigation satellite system (GNSS) technologies. This leading technology company provides advanced design and validation solutions to help accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world.

Working with Orolia, a global leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions, allows Keysight to add superior global navigation satellite system (GNSS) simulation capabilities to its 5G device test solution portfolio. As a result, existing Keysight 5G device test customers can easily meet GNSS-related 3GPP protocol conformance and carrier acceptance test requirements by upgrading the software in Keysight's E7515B UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform and integrating it with Orolia's GSG-8 simulator.

In a variety of industries, including healthcare, road and air transportation, entertainment, and national security, precise positioning is critical. For reliable navigation and secure transportation of people and goods, future applications such as drones and autonomous vehicles will rely on very precise positioning services. Mobile operators use GNSS and non-GNSS technologies such as beamforming, angle-based location, and round-trip time (RTT) to give personalized services and support emergency calls.

The efforts of Keysight and Orolia will enable chipset and device makers to verify functionality to position mobile phone users within a geographic area accurately. Orolia's automated and scalable GSG-8 GNSS simulator supports current GNSS constellations, including GPS, Galileo GLONASS, and BeiDou, with upgrade paths to future constellations. Keysight offers in-built positioning capabilities in the UXM 5G wireless test platform for non-GNSS positioning test requirements.
