A prominent product in Intermatic’s portfolio is ARISTA^®, an advanced lighting control system with modular components, including sensors, controllers, manual overrides, and daylight harvesters, to provide a holistic solution for smart lighting. ARISTA components work together to elevate indoor environments while reducing energy use and adhering to evolving building codes.

The sensors ARISTA uses are designed to be contractorfriendly and are available in 3 different styles: in-wall, wallmounted, and ceiling-mounted. The ceiling-mounted versions are designed to allow for multiple types of installations. These units can be easily box-mounted, spring-mounted, or surface-mounted with included adapter plates.

ARISTA is powered by Bluetooth^® mesh technology, allowing for quick installation of all components while reducing wiring needs. Much like the technology consumers routinely use to pair portable speakers and hands-free headsets, Bluetooth^® mesh technology creates a ‘web’ of every device, using a wireless node to send, receive, and share commands across the network. This allows contractors to handle multiple lighting controls such as ON/OFF schedules, daylight levels, and presence detection across a large area under one system.

The intuitive ARISTA mobile app allows contractors and end-users to make adjustments hassle-free. During initial setup, installers can set basic schedules and finetune parameters, then hand over control to end-users. This allows users to edit schedules and adjust settings within a defined set of guardrails so that they don’t affect systemwide performance.

In the unlikely event that an ARISTA device fails, communication between remaining devices stays in sync. This modular design allows contractors to seamlessly expand and customize devices into the ARISTA system as new needs arise.

“ARISTA offers the best of both worlds,” says Taylor Hershoff, product marketing manager at Intermatic. “It allows installers to get through setup with ease and empowers occupants to take control of their lighting environments.”

ARISTA control units are available as 1-channel, 2-channel, or 4-channel units and will work with either 0-10 V or 1-10 V lighting fixtures for dimming applications. They can also be used for traditional non-dimming loads or plug load control.

Single-circuit ARISTA controllers offer 10 A of LED lighting control, while 2-channel and 4-channel controllers are rated for 16 A of LED per channel, the highest rating available. This makes them one of the most robust and reliable controllers for handling large LED loads.

Intermatic recently helped a client install ARISTA in their office complex in Illinois. In this application, they focused on using ARISTA sensors to turn lights on and off automatically in spaces that were infrequently used, like supply closets and hallways. Similarly, they used daylight harvesting sensors to adjust light levels around workspaces where occupants preferred natural light rather than light from overhead fixtures.
After installing ARISTA as part of an office-wide conversion to LED lighting, the client saw a significant decrease in monthly energy costs while enhancing the office environment.
