Clean engines run better than those with destructive carbon buildup, and restoring them to maximum performance is the key part of any complete preventive maintenance service plan,” says Jared English, founder and CEO of HHO Carbon Clean Systems (HHO CCS).

Carbon deposits in the internal combustion engine (ICE) have been a persistent issue since its invention, causing lower fuel economy and engine performance inefficiencies that can result in critical component failure. Fleet owners today are challenged with improving engine efficiency while ensuring minimum vehicle maintenance downtime to cater to the ever-growing logistics needs. The evolving and stringent emission control regulations further add to the challenge.

HHO CCS aims to resolve the intricacies of ICE cleaning through its proprietary hydrogen carbon cleaning process, presenting fleet owners with a painless path to improve engine performance and meet their sustainability goals.

A mobile service provider, HHO CCS specializes in slow-moving fleets with high idle times that are often known for high emissions. Its HHO 1500, a hydrogen generator capable of yielding 1500 liters of hydrogen per hour, uses distilled water and electrolysis to produce an Oxyhydrogen mixture. This gas is introduced into the combustion chamber at an idle state, which amplifies the flash speed of the explosion.
The superheated hydrogen-rich gases react with the carbon to remove the deposits layer by layer from internal engine components, including pistons, cylinders, catalytic converters, and diesel exhaust filters. The carbon deposits turn into gas, which is then expelled through the exhaust system. The entire process doesn’t yield any chunks of loose carbon that might stick to components downstream.

A typical ICE cleaning requires a 45-minute session. Team HHO CCS also adds guardrails to ensure safety. It performs a rev cycle every ten minutes, and a battery-operated Bluetooth sensor is connected to the vehicle in service. Any drop in voltage quickly points out engine stalls, which in turn triggers the equipment ‘OFF’ switch. The method assures that no hydrogen gas is pumped into an engine that is not consuming it.

“Our service requires no invasive engine teardowns. It is safe, eco-friendly, and doesn’t require any oil change post service,” says English.

To prevent excessive carbon buildup, HHO CCS also scripts a routine preventative maintenance schedule on request. Based on vehicle type, usage, and component sizes, it offers quarterly, bi-annual, and annual services. The company’s carbon cleaning systems have benefitted many fleet operators.

For instance, a municipality with over 200 vehicles in their fleet witnessed a 35 percent decrease in downtime and maintenance costs on the units serviced quarterly by HHO CCS. Similarly, a small trucking company with 11 Max trucks realized a nine percent increase in fuel economy, which amounted to $65,000 from their total costs.

HHO CCS affirms all its success to a team of master technicians driven by a passion for pioneering the advancement and application of hydrogen-based technologies and providing fleets with innovative preventive maintenance services that result in immediate value. In 2020, following more than two decades of successfully managing his auto repair facility, founder, inventor, and certified master technician, English assembled a team of like-minded entrepreneurs to create and market innovative hydrogen technology applications. Today, after carbon cleaning thousands of commercial vehicles with hydrogen, the service is maintained by a growing network of well-trained preventive maintenance service professionals. In the coming days, it aims to further grow its geographic footprint and help fleet owners better meet their sustainability goals.
