In industrial settings, indoor ventilation systems with well-maintained air ducts are crucial to an environment free of airborne particles and contamination. However, air ducts are notoriously difficult to clean. This poses a serious threat to air quality, hygiene and health, invites fire hazards, and makes running ventilation systems a costly and energy-consuming exercise.

Hamster Cleaning brings the answer to all these challenges through its innovative, European standards EN 15780-compliant cleaning process for facilitating clean air across cleanrooms, offices, public and commercial buildings, laboratories, and healthcare institutions. Its proprietary 95G cleaning method aims to achieve completely dirt-free ventilation air ducts. It helps reduce the energy used by ventilation systems to circulate air throughout buildings and mitigates fire safety risks by removing accumulated dust that can act as fuel.

“Our well-researched air duct cleaning method offers a guaranteed clean rate of 95 percent and above,” says Seppe Thys, managing director of Hamster Cleaning.

Its cleaning method is engineered into three phases. The first comprises an assessment, where Hamster Cleaning’s team examines the client’s air ducts using its Smart Inspection method and detects whether the system is fit for cleaning and EN 12097-compliant.

Instead of conducting a general visual examination of ventilation systems, it incorporates AI in its inspection process, and a database of multiple pictures of air ducts at various levels of contamination compiled over the years. The contamination levels are expressed in grams per square meter and are stored in a GDPR-compliant database for future reference.
When Hamster Cleaning visits a client, it photographs their ventilation systems and compares them with the database to determine the contamination level in a fast and reliable manner. This enables it to determine reliably and quantitively if the system needs cleaning. Once confirmed, it proceeds to the second phase, where the client’s building is prepared for the cleaning process.

Hamster Cleaning creates cleaning strategies tailored to the building and its ventilation system. It cleans the systems with minimal disruption in the client’s work while assuring the highest cleanliness results. For example, it successfully cleaned the air ducts of the intensive care unit of a European university hospital without disturbing the admitted patients.

To ensure flexibility in its cleaning services, Hamster Cleaning uses an array of tools procured from different manufacturers. This provides room for tweaking the cleaning process in accordance with the client’s duct system and building structure, helping achieve the guaranteed cleanliness rate.

Certified technicians are deployed, who first loosen the accumulated dust in air ducts using brushes, pressurized air, and robots. A mechanical extraction is used to create enough negative pressure to ensure an effective evacuation of the debris out of the ventilation system. The power which the mechanical extraction system should reach is calculated and related to the chosen strategy of cleaning.

This is followed by the third phase, where Hamster Cleaning provides a comprehensive Smart Report on the cleaned air duct status using its own specialized software, per ISO 9001 standards.

Employing its robust cleaning process, Hamster Cleaning upheld the guaranteed clean rate for the ventilation system of NextPharma’s production area cleanroom in Germany. The work was performed in compliance with EN 15780 and VDI 6022 standards. It also cleans the air handling units of a major pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands twice a year, helping them maintain continuity and efficiency in their production processes.

Currently under development is a progressive monitoring system that can observe contamination levels in air ducts in real time. It will provide clients with insights into the cleaning needs of their air ducts, enabling them to schedule effective maintenance operations.

Driven to provide reliable air duct cleaning services, Hamster Cleaning’s revolutionary 95G cleaning methodology is set to augment ventilation systems and elevate indoor air quality to the highest levels.
