Anders Meitons, CEO, Gobius Sensor Technology AB. Afew decades back, only a handful of boaters would equip their boats with tank monitoring systems. A rationale behind this was extremely high costs for services, which, accompanied by difficulty in installation, made the overall implementation process inefficient and arduous. Fast forward today, there is over 11.1 billion sensor-connected device actively monitoring boat tanks today, and this trend is expected to continue for several years to come. Despite the risk involved in the yachting sector, it is evident that contemporary technologies are opening doors to endless possibilities to implement intelligent and efficient sensors. Riding the coattails of this trend is Gobius Sensor Technology AB. The company is a behemoth in the global tank monitoring systems, providing highly efficient, simple, easy-to-use, reliable, and eco-friendly sensors.
Gobius was founded by innovator and entrepreneur Anders Meiton in 2008, with the mission to provide all boaters with increased levels of comfort and freedom. Since its inception, the company has launched a myriad of innovative products that accurately measure liquid levels in recreational marine waste, fuel, and water tanks. As opposed to other measuring devices, Gobius’ products measure from outside the tank, making them effortless to install and easy to use.
Owing to its patented sensor solutions, Gobius’ products are deployed worldwide for various applications. The sensors generate small vibrations in the tank walls, applicable for metals and plastics tanks. Its flagship product, Gobious pro, is geared around monitoring the local, mechanical properties of fluid tanks. The solution exerts force onto a tank wall, causing it to vibrate. A built-in accelerometer then measures the vibrations and transmits signals to the sensor processor. The processor’s algorithms analyze the vibrations and accurately calculate the fluid inside the tank. Gobius Pro can be mounted outside a tank, eliminating the need to drill holes in tanks and undertaking the challenging task of installing sensors inside the tanks. In addition to this, the sensor also has dual outputs for integration with Bus-systems, control arrays, light, and buzzers. Apart from water and fuel, Gobius’ sensors can measure oil, grey/black water, and waste in septic tanks. To improve the monitoring procedure for users, Gobius has developed an android and iOS application where users can monitor their tanks in real-time.

The Gobius sensors have a built-in BLE BlueTooth communication module and application for android and iOS mobile phones, where users in real-time can monitor water and fuel levels inside tanks. The Gobius app could also be used to program the initial settings of the sensors, display measures, as well as the functionalities for remote monitoring and support. Users have the liberty to set up the applications in accordance with their user cases, create networks of sensors, and monitor the networks right from their mobile devices. The application is also available in native languages apart from English, including French, German, Italian, Norwegian, and Swedish. For over a decade now, Gobius has offered innovative solutions to a broad and diverse clientele, who always speak highly of its products and support services. Looking ahead, Gobius Sensor Technology AB is en route to executing a paradigm shift in the sensor industry, fostering innovation, and imbuing other market players to develop user-friendly sensor solutions.
